Hawaiiana artist Gill's airbrush painting, titled 'Hawaiian Drummer,' from the early 1940's. Unfortunately, as WWII enfolded, artist materials became of lesser quality and consequently few originals have been preserved.

Yet, today Gill's work is regarded the most recognizable of the period. With his stylized renditions of Hawaiian figures this native of San Francisco still charms us today.
